This seems to be one of those courses that takes the fun out of golf. I purchased a round for my grandfather and I for Christmas as we’ve always wanted to play this course. After I got off work we proceeded to the course. We arrived with high hopes that it would be a fun day. Upon entering the pro shop, I was greeted by the man behind the counter. I politely asked if he had any golf shoes for sale as I needed some for the round because I didn’t have mine as I just got off work. I was also hoping to browse the other merchandise. Before I could even turn to walk over to the golf shoes, the gentleman at the counter asked if I was going to be planning on playing a round today I replied with; Yes my grandfather and I have already paid for around. We have a tee time. The gentleman behind the counter, replied with do you have other pants because if not, you can’t play. I’ve played a lot of golf in my life, I know about dress code and I respect it, which is why i entered the pro shop in the first place…to buy what I needed.
This gentleman was so worried about enforcing the rules that he didn’t even take the time to ask if I needed help with something. He didn’t want to take the time out of his day to help me, he just wanted to be sure that I knew I can’t play at his course while wearing blue pants. I would’ve happily purchased whatever attire he would’ve deemed appropriate if he would’ve been willing to help me out. There were many things that I wanted to say in this situation, but I just said OK no problem and I walked away. We had already paid for the round and didn’t even bother to ask for our money back. My grandpa, myself and my blue pants decided to go to the Alisal. We enjoyed a wonderful day of golf there.

To the youngun behind the counter, don’t be so quick to judge books by their covers.

Happy New Year

Ted Robinson 'housing golf' at its worst. An uninspired layout, little to no landing zone for tee shots, and an over reliance on trees as design elements. The members, at least the ones I've interacted with, are incredibly rude and entitled. Spare yourself this track, there are better ones in the area.

Specifically reviewing the restaurant. Consistently poor service. The food's okay, the drinks are mediocre at best, and the wait staff while nice are completely disorganized. I've given it several chances because some friends go here often for trivia, but not going to get food or drinks here anymore because each and every time I've been a mistake gets made. This time I ordered the last of a dessert item and asked for them to put it aside until after dinner since my entree still hadn't arrived. They said they set it aside so that it would stay cold until after and then sold it to someone else they then tried to still charge me for it. I could forgive it if it was just once, but consistently this place makes these sorts of mistakes.

So much fun tonight at our Valley Club Christmas dinner. The salmon & prime rib meals were excellent, and so was the dessert. They have the most beautiful Christmas tree up along with 7 others, all decorated to perfection this year. What great service we all had tonight. Francine

First time playing this course ever. I go up to the club house to ask for a bag of ice and get crucified from the staff. “The marshal will confiscate your beer and I’m not stupid. I’m not giving you a bag of ice”. I then tell her alright, let me order some beer with my bag of ice. She literally wouldn’t serve me. Now I understand not bringing outside drinks into a golf course. But I just spent $200 at your business and to be treated that way without any understanding of what I planned to use the bag of ice for is just ridiculous. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I don’t find myself wanting to return anytime soon. Customer service goes a long way and most if not all golf courses I play will provide you with ice. It shouldn’t be that big of a deal.

Course has been improved and is in very good condition. There are many dogleg right holes which are quite unusual and very fun to play. Well worth the drive and the bar makes a great burger.

I've been a member at The Mission Club for over 20 years. It was named the Village Club then, before we, equity members of the private club, sold it to the owners of La Purisima Golf Course, who renamed it The Mission Club. It is a hidden gem, tucked in the hills above Lompoc, jealously guarded by dedicated owners, caring groundskeepers, knowledgeable office staff, attentive kitchen and bar workers, and avid members who know we have one of the best golf courses on the Central Coast. I know Brad Pitt has just moved into a castle above Carmel, but he would be just as happy moving into a house neighboring our course without dishing out $40 million.
