You feel like you're walking into a well kept secret, the first time you see the long bar and low lights. It has that welcoming feeling, but the sense that a clandestine conversation could be happening at the end of the bar.

Whiskey is the focus here so I first ordered an Old Fashioned. It tasted off. I let it dilute a little bit, but it never got there.

I had some friends start ordering the Seven Grand Paper Plane. These planes took off. Before I know it, the entire group is ordering them. It's such a smooth drink. Dangerously close to being gone in three drinks because of it.

The Paper Plane saved the night for me, because the old fashioned was middle of the pack.

One of the largest selections of Bourbon’s and whiskeys that I have seen in the area. Service was good. The bar wasn’t that clean. They definitely have a problem with keeping up with the amount of people after the game. But the service is so friendly and knowledgeable. They have some pool tables inside and the atmosphere is what I think is the best about this place.

I don’t care what big city you’re in, when you’re in the downtown area surrounded by tall buildings, the most expensive real estate, and corporate offices that close at 6PM, it’s hard to find a real bar; one that’s not a tourist dump and over priced and soulless. Seven Grand is a very real bar in a beautiful old space with great music, expert bartenders and an enormous whiskey selection. I was recommended some hard-to-find bourbons that were all incredible and priced at least 50% less than I would pay in NYC. I could have spent a couple days here just going down the list of cool things to try. And don’t sleep on their exclusive barrel-select from Garrison Brothers.
