Have hunted with Bill of Elk Basin Outfitters for the past two seasons. The Trophy hunt was amazing. Last year we rode in horseback to archery camp. Great setup. Big wall tents with wood burning stoves. Hot breakfasts and dinners. Beautiful views all around. This is the real deal back country hunt. If you’re tough enough to handle elk hunting. This is the place to go. Bill does everything he can to get you on the elk. Great hunting and pack guides. Can’t wait to get back out there. First hunted with Bill and Carla over 16 years ago and had the greatest of experiences. Most of all the experience sparked a friendship that I will cherish forever. Bill and Carla represent the honest hardworking grit and determination that is the heartbeat of America. Their passion for hunting shows in the exceptional hunting experience they provide for their clients. Archery camp is a true backcountry wilderness adventure that leaves nothing to be desired. My wife booked my last hunt with them for my birthday in 2022, where I was joined by my childhood best friend and his oldest son. Bill, Carla and their guides went out of their way to make it a once in a lifetime experience for us. We all killed big bulls, with mine scoring 360+, it was an experience I’ll never forget and hope to do it again someday. We’ve booked an archery hunt for wife in 2024 and can hardly wait for the day to arrive. If you’re looking for a truly great hunting experience, you can’t miss with Elk Basin Outfitters!

I had a great experience with Bill, Carla, Gary, Jeremiah, Ben, Elijah, and Kyle. This was my 1st back country archery hunt and I could not have been happier. This was one of those bucket list trips that I always wanted to do but never made the time. The accommodations were great and the food was excellent (Thanks Ben!). Jeremiah was a great guide and we defiantly hiked all over the hills. we did not connect with a bull but I was successful with a very nice cow elk on the last day!

Bill and Carla Allen provide an excellent service with a longstanding knowledge of the backcountry in the area. This helped me achieve success in 2022. I was really looking for an backcountry and outdoor experience and Elk Basin was able to provide along with a beautiful high country camp, hot meals and warm accommodation. Lastly, Bill and Carla’s energetic enthusiasm was contagious. They are fun to be around. They truly love what they do and love to share it with their guests. Highly recommended.

I just completed my first archery elk hunting experience with Elk Basin Outfitters and had a great time. Bill and Carla are big-hearted, salt-of-the-earth, very welcoming people who will go out of their way to help make your trip a success. They care about your comfort, safety, and strive to meet expectations. Gary and the guides run a top-notch camp and are all very knowledgable of the hunting unit and work together to make sure hunters/clients are taken care of. The horses/mules are well cared for and are a blessing to have, with all that goes in to making a backcountry archery elk hunt a success. Our camp cook, Ben, was fantastic .... an accomplished and knowledgable guide himself, he was a great conversationalist and the food in camp was phenomenal. Overall it was a great experience and I hope to return soon to fill an archery elk tag. Thank you all for your hospitality!

Since a bad car accident I never thought I’d be able to get to the back country again. Bill and Karla were sympathetic to my situation and made the experience worthwhile. I may never climb like I did before but they put me on a gentle mule named Peaches and I had the best time ever.
