We was in the small town of St.Johns Arizona. Looking for a place to eat.Came across El Camino Restaurant. We ordered "The Special ", came with cheese Enchiladas, taco and tostada. No rice and beans. So,I ordered rice and beans on the side. Complementary salsa and chips. The food was delicious. Waitresses were nice,The business was mellow for lunch. Come check it out.?

Super nice owner. Service was provided by the owner and she was great. Food was average, nothing to brag about but not bad either. The salsa was much spicier than one would expect. The owner assured us that the salsa was definitely hotter than anything on the menu. Not so! After receiving our food and everyone at the table commenting on how hot it was, we noticed that everyone in the room was saying the same. Probably not the usual experience here but it definitely makes us leary of going back.

My husband and I went out to dinner for my birthday on 3/6/24. We've dined at El Camino in the past, in fact during the early months of the pandemic, and we enjoyed our meal. Consequently, I was surprised how bad the food was this time. Everything but the cheese enchiladas was dry and tasteless. The pork tamale was super dry and had little to recommend it. The ground beef taco tasted off. Not rotten off, but off. It too was dry and unpleasant to the palate. Both meat entrees appeared and tasted like they were several days old and had become overly dry from over cooking. Only the cheese enchiladas weren't dry and essentially inedible. Had it not been for our server who was very attentive and quick with our order, I would think twice about going back.

Meat was so questionable in appearance and awful in taste my mom couldn't eat it.
The rice tasted like rubber and the beans just didn't have a taste.

Jesus our waiter was friendly and attentive until he asked how the food was and my mom (amount eaten pictured) explained the problem.

He mockingly responded "I'm soooo sorry ma'am " and he literally ignored us and never came back. Another waiter cleared our plate and got our check after I asked.

I shared my really mediocre nachos with my mom and the disgusting plate sat.

Jesus did however rush to meet us at the register. He said nothing could be done about the problems with our meal. When we asked for a manager he just said "not on site" ran the cards and walked away.

I love El Camino!! I have been gone from St. Johns for 12 years. Before I moved, me and my family would go to El Camino all the time! Their food is still so so good!! I absolutely love them! Always friendly!!
