What a hidden gem! I've driven through Pottsville on Highway 64 dozens of times, but never knew this museum existed. The main house is immaculately restored and filled with period furnishings from the Potts and other early families. The outbuildings are filled with different artifacts from dolls, to medical equipment to hats. If you're a history buff, it's worth the drive to Pottsville just to see the Potts Inn, as well as the 1913 Bank and original grocery store across the street. I did not take the tour- I wanted to just poke around and take everything in on my own, but I will go back later and take the guided tour to get more information.

Must see and tour while visiting Russellville area! Tours available. $5 adult, $3 child admission is well worth it to see this piece of history from the 1850's. Tour guide is kind, helpful and knowledgeable.

I volunteered at this museum with high hopes of contributing to its mission, but my experience took a troubling turn after a single, inappropriate encounter with the Vice President of the Historical Board. During one interaction, the Vice President Garry Penman made an unprofessional and uncomfortable comment, crossing personal boundaries in a way that I never expected from someone in such a position.

While this incident was a one-time occurrence, the lack of support or acknowledgment from the overall organization members afterward left me feeling unsupported and disrespected. It was a situation that could have been addressed with care and professionalism, but instead, I was left to handle it alone, which ultimately led to my decision to leave. I was even made to feel that my feelings on my experience were unwarranted because I was "traumatized" by the tour guide Kara Bowers.

It’s disappointing to see that an institution like this, which should foster a safe and respectful environment, failed to handle the situation in a manner that reflects its values. If you're thinking of volunteering or supporting this museum, I strongly advise caution. What should have been a positive and professional experience was marred by a lack of proper response to a troubling incident.

Had a great tour! I regret not getting the guide's name, but she was very personable & knowledgeable. She even showed us the town's first grocery store & the old bank. Loved hearing the history of this little town.

Not as nice of an area as I thought it would be. Very dirty, rude people, no parking, we decided to leave.
