I would not recommend staying here. Bummed about our experience at bear cabins. Our cabin was gross, unkept and had multiple maintenance issues. Throughout the cabin there were cobwebs, dust and spiders. There was dirt, crackers, and cookies on, under and in the couch. The dishes were also dirty. We had to wash them before we used them. (The checkout list has the guests wash and put dishes away. I’m not sure, but you might be depending on the last people who stayed there to do the dishes instead of cleaners. It was clear they were not cleaned by the last guest or checked by cleaners). Whatever cleaning was done was not done well.

The biggest issue was water leaks. The owners knew about the roof leak. There was a note taped on the cabinet that said the roof leaks when it rains. It was Alaska in may, it rained and it leaked. The sink also leaked. These had been going on for some time based off the water damage and strong dank / musty / mildew-ish smell. We had to air out the cabin whenever we walked in. It stunk. We looked for different lodging but it was during a festival and we couldn’t find anywhere that could accommodate the family. Pretty frustrating that instead of fixing the roof, they just wrote a note. The good thing about the cabin is the location on the river. Peaceful and pretty. This place would be worth the price if they took the effort to clean it and maintain it.

Wonderful spot to spend some time in Cordova. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing would be three words I’d use to describe the location. Cabins are clean, spacious (in an efficient sort of way) well appointed. The owner Robin was friendly and very laid back.
I’d stay here every time I came to town without hesitation.
Two minor issues (neither their fault) - 1) there is an air compressor at a shop nearby that fires off every 20 minutes around the clock for about 45 second. Annoying on day one, but not too memorable after that. 2) there were a family of kids next door that were/are aspiring track stars as it sounded like they wore a hole in their carpet clomping about until 11pm. Again, not their fault as kids will be kids.

Lovely place. Cabin right by the river. Two really sociable and present dogs wandering about. Ask about the kayaks- they're free to use if you're a guest and the river is literally feet away from the cabins.
Heaters in cabins and super comfy bedding!!
Showers good.
Fridge/freezer, cooking appliances and utensils etc all supplied. No tea or coffee/cooking oil provided but there was dish soap.
Outside grill to use but need to get your own gas.
Great place and friendly family running it.

We spent 3 nights at Bears Den Cabins which are on the Eyak River about 6 miles out of Cordova on the Copper River Highway. Our cabin was a good size for a couple and was stocked with everything we needed -- kitchen equipment, soap, shampoo, conditioner, towels, microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, BBQ grill with BBQ utensils, dishes, eating and cooking utensils, dish soap and towels, pots and pans, toaster, etc. There was a DVD player and a monitor but we never used it. || Clean and comfortable. The family which manages the cabins lives onsite and are friendly and helpful. Our cabin came with use of a canoe or kayak, but we did not go out on the river. Price was reasonable. However, the cabins are used by fishermen in August and September and the rates are much higher during those months. || Wifi is advertised but was weak and intermittently available. There are dogs on the property but they are quiet at night and well-behaved. It was easy to shoo them off our porch when we were cooking. || ||There are some larger units for bigger groups and families.

These nice cabins are located a few miles outside of Cordova. They are right on the Eyak River. The host can provide boats and gear for you. The cabins have everything you need...full kitchen, barbecue, deck, TV, internet. Friendly folks. Great spot. They have lots of big dogs that come to mingle with you, so it that bothers you it may not be your best choice. Lots of cabin options to fit your needs. We had a great time here.

We have been going to Bears Den Cabins for over 10 years, chasing those Silvers in the Eyak River. We look forward to every Aug/Sept, praying for the rain to hold off just a few more days. Skip and Robin are the best hosts anybody could ask for. They are available for fishing tips and tricks or ideas to get out to explore the area. The cabins are more than comfortable with a great layout and right on the river. 50 yard stroll, hop in the boat and head down the river to the Cannery or the mouth of the Ibeck for an afternoon of "fish on". Do not forget to stop by the Taco Bus or The Powder House for some awesome food!!!!

Our family stayed at Bears Den for 3 nights back in July, 2013. We are actully hoping to return this summer!||||We have 2 college-age boys, and Cabin #3 was perfect for us. The boys took the downstairs bedroom, and the parents in the loft with the King bed option. Everything was clean and the cabin was cozy and well appointed. We cook in a bit when we vacation, and the kitchen was stacked with everything we needed. All furniture was modern and comfortable.||||Perhaps the best part of Bears Den is the setting. Tucked in the thick woods and right on the bank of the beautiful turquoise-blue Eyak River, we spent a lot of time enjoying the porch and fire pit area. Swimming in the river is an option, but the water is "refreshing" to say the least! Being a rainforest, there are a few mosquitos, but a little repellant did the trick every time. We were also visited more than once by a bald eagle, who has a nest across the river.||||We have been to Alaska 8 different times for 2 weeks each time, and Cordova is one of our favorite places. The term "real Alaska" is appropriate, as you are far away from the cruise ship/tour bus crowd. Yes, it's a little effort to get to, but SO worth it!

A group of guys have stayed at the Bear's Den Cabins for five years in a row. Nicely appointed cabins on the Eyak river. Roll out of bed in the morning, hop in your boat, motor down the river and slay the salmon. A true Alaska experience. Cabins are clean. Staff is friendly. Our rate included a van to get back and forth to town and the boat rental. You can't get any closer to the fishing than this!
