Quite a long hike. Make sure you have water. Be aware that some of the areas have spotty cell coverage.

Started at the trail head for country club and took Country club to Pat Mullin. Instead of completing the country club loop, I did an out and back, which made it about 3 miles. It was well marked, pine tree shaded trail with very few people for a Sunday morning. Great views from the Pat Mullin segment!

Very pretty trail, lots of trees and views of a large meadow. Some little hills to climb towards the end but great exercise. My sister and I did the Country Club trail on March 3, 2024 around 10 am. We were on the last leg of it about a quarter of a mile away from the parking area and my sister happened to look back to her right. She stopped so I turned back and got excited because I thought she saw an elk or deer. When I asked her what it was she didn’t answer and kept looking - trying to figure out what she was looking at. All of a sudden she said- it’s a BEAR!! I tried to see but it had already turned away and was in some brush and trees. We kept looking and saw the back of it going up a sloped area of the terrain. And then it was gone. It was not all black. It looked more like a dirty yellowish tan with dark brown mixed in. At first we were confused because it wasn’t solid black and we thought black bears are always black. But we looked at pictures on the internet and saw that they aren’t always black, especially when they come out in the spring. The pictures we saw were exactly like the bear we saw. It was only about 30-40 feet from us. It didn’t come toward us. I think my sister scared it when she yelled out. Thank goodness it didn’t want to stick around. And neither did we! We didn’t run but we picked up our walking pace and kept looking back and to the right of us to make sure it didn’t turn back and follow us. It was a great hike despite the bear. But BE AWARE! The picture is of a bear that was recently seen on the border wall in Naco Az. The colors are exactly the colors of the bear we saw. Not black! Again, the picture is not the bear we saw. Just used as description.

Nice walk through the woods. Views through the trees on the way up. The trail gets to the top about 100 feet before it ends.

What a great trail and so close to town. Easy parking, no cost. You are instantly in the pine forest on a very clean and clearly marked trail. It's part of the White Mountain trail system. It's 3.5 miles that takes you through a forested loop with gradual elevation increases. Perfect for hiking or mountain biking. Watch for some rocks throughout the trail but much of it is smooth. You'll have to go through cattle gates, opening and closing them and lifting your bike up through them. Probably one of the nicest and well maintained trails I've ever been on anywhere.
