Really sad to see such an historical town become casino city. There used to be loads of local shops to go thru and then grab lunch. Now it's has at least half a dozen casinos on every corner. There are still a few shops to visit and support local businesses.
If the casinos help the town survive I totally get it, but they should support bringing in more local owned businesses as well. It's a nice drive to Cripple Creek and still a beautiful historical town.

Drove from COS to Cripple Creek for the Fall colors. It was as if my eyes couldn't believe what they were seeing; the beauty and vastness of it all can make you a little emotional. 😊🙂😬

Neat little gambling town. Its location is not as pretty as Central City or Blackhawk, but there are still numerous little casinos and hotels. Be aware that the town is at around 9400 feet (2880 meters) in altitude, so I would recommend acclimatizing in Denver or Colorado Springs for a couple of days before heading up to CC. This way, you might avoid symptoms of altitude sickness.

So the drive from Colorado Springs had some stunning views and the visitor station was great and well worth stopping for! Spend an hour here for the view and the small informative “museum”. Great spot to learn a little about the mining history of the area. The town itself was simply casinos so if you’re into that it’s ok. (It’s no Vegas) there are “wild” donkeys ...ancestors of the donkeys in the mines and they roam the streets. We were there in November and the donkeys were taken to a ranch for the winter. You can buy donkey food at the visitor station to feed them! So we headed over to the ranch and that was fun.

First time coming to this quaint little town. It was nice, lots of casinos haha. The Creek restaurant and bar is where I ended up stopping by and it was good also.

Lovely little town. Their building was vibrant and so colorful. They had a pretty amazing play ground for my children. My children were able to run off a lot of energy. This place was clean with no litter, very family oriented. I would recommend visiting this town. There was a lot of history which made me feel like I was stepping into a town about 100 years ago. I would def recommend this place to family and friends.
