Not What It Used to Be – Disappointing Changes After New Ownership

My wife and I have been visiting Della Terra since it opened in 2009. We loved it for many reasons: its proximity to RMNP, the luxury rooms, the option to have massage at the Château, the cozy loft bar for socializing, and—our favorite—the gourmet breakfast prepared by a local chef, delivered right to our room. My parents even knew the former owners personally, and it was clear they cared deeply about the guest experience.

Unfortunately, since being bought out by a national wedding venue company last year, Della Terra has lost everything that made it special. They’ve removed the option for massages, eliminated the loft bar (now you can only buy drinks at check-in—not exactly the same experience), and worst of all, they replaced the in-room gourmet breakfast with a cafeteria-style setup in a shared dining area.

The breakfast itself was a major disappointment:

Eggs – Watery, bland, and overly salty.
French Toast – One side was rock-hard, the other was soft and mushy.
Sausage & Bacon – The only thing that was decent.
It now feels like a generic airport hotel breakfast—not the upscale, intimate experience it once was.

To make matters worse, prices have gone up since the buyout, despite the significant downgrade in services. Della Terra is no longer a boutique bed and breakfast retreat; it’s just another overpriced Estes Park hotel that happens to host weddings.

After 15 years of visiting multiple times a year, we won’t be back. It’s truly disappointing to see such a special place lose its charm in favor of corporate priorities.

Our daughter was married at Della Terra last weekend & it could not have been more beautiful! Working with Rachel and her staff was amazing as they anticipated our needs and questions, being so polite and professional and FUN! The bridal salon was the perfect place to get ready & the beautiful natural light from the windows was amazing. We have received so many positive and wonderful compliments from our guests. Thank you Della Terra and especially Rachel and her staff!

This is my dream wedding venue. Katrina has been nothing short of amazing and has helped us with the tours and booking process to make sure our dreams become a reality. While we were waiting for a tour we met Lawrence who was so helpful and kind. We are so lucky to have found this venue and are thrilled for our upcoming big day! We were fortunate enough to have our wedding at Della Terra and we seriously felt like royalty the entire planning process and the big day itself. The venue is stunning inside and out, private and exactly what we wanted for our special day. While nothing compared to Della Terra's aesthetic of all the places we considered, the real reason it shone was because of the staff. The entire wedding team is second to none. I cannot say enough about Annie. She was our main planner and she was absolute perfection. She was so kind and professional and made the planning so fun. She answered all of my (many) questions with a smile and handled my stress and jitters whenever they arose. She's detailed, knowledgeable and we knew we were in great hands from the moment we met her. On the Catering side, Karrie and Ryan made our menu and bar absolute perfection. Our guests are still commenting on how amazing the food was and how great our signature cocktails (created by Ryan) were. All the staff members of Della Terra that my new husband, our families and friends and I connected with always had a smile on their face and made us feel so incredibly special. If you're looking for a wedding venue in Estes Park or just an incredibly beautiful place to stay, I honestly wouldn't look anywhere else.

The room (suite) we stayed in was gorgeous, I want to start with that. The amenities in the room felt very much like a luxury suite, which was only slightly reflected in price. I would say the room price was under what you'd believe walking in. However, the rooms were not individually temperature controlled. The floor heating was cranked, and the in wall Mr. Cool look a like wasn't able to turn on. This led to an extremely hot room overnight for us. The desk said to let them know if we wanted an adjustment, which would work well for early to be folks, but as we were out late, the desk was already gone. It's absurd to think you can't change the temp in the room with a wall unit, then let the floor heating do it's own thing. We ended up opening the two windows and the patio door to try and sleep.
