This place is amazing. You feel like you have the mountain to yourself. My husband and I love to go fishing and exploring the property. Tons of wild life and the fishing is great. Make sure you have 4 wheel drive, and bring lanterns. They do have have some in the cabins but always good to have extra. We have gone 2 times but this is our forever getaway.

I have stayed at GR Bar Ranch several times, and each time was magical. If you love nature and the outdoors, and you're looking for a private slice of heaven, this is the place for you. It is literally off the beaten path (you should have 4 wheel drive) and not one of those places where there are ten cabins next to each other and you wave to one another from your individual fire pits in the evening. No, this is the real deal! You are alone, you have no neighbors, and there is endless abundant nature to explore. I loved my early morning cup of coffee on the front porch. The air smells so good and just listening to the little sounds around me, the rustle of the leaves, the small animals and birds, was so soothing. It is rustic (everything runs on propane), but you will have everything you need in one of the most beautiful places there are. I was actually worried about my teenage son on a recent visit (there is no "free wifi" and cell reception is spotty or nonexistent), but he loved it! This is a wonderful place for families to connect the old fashioned way - play a board game, hike, fish, go horseback riding, or just relax. I have heard they also have great hunting for those so inclined. My family and I will definitely be back for another visit, and I can wholeheartedly recommend this beautiful place to anyone looking for a very special vacation spot. Five stars!!

GR Bar Ranch is one of the most magical places you will find. The landscape on the mesa, the back drop of the west elk mountains, the sunsets over looking the valley toward the uncompahgre plateau and a special blend of oak, aspen and wild flowers makes for a storybook setting. Mary-Beth and her family are wonderful people and will make you feel like family. If you get a chance to visit you will not regret it, and you will never forget it.

We had a fantastic time at GR Bar Ranch. The location is beautiful, staff was great, and my wife and two kids (9 and 5) had an unreal week being in the outdoors and spending real time together. It's a different kind of vacation experience than almost anything else you'll find. I highly recommended it.

A great place for a getaway whether you want to hunt, fish, horseback riding or just enjoy nature. Private cottages for a group , family or couple, kids friendly and relaxing enjoyable atmosphere! Family vacation, where we did horse back riding, caught tons of fish had acres and acres land to explore. Talk about relaxing and freedom. It truly was hard leave after a week... definitely going back. And the staff is first class.
