If you traveling through the small town of Hartsel on your way or back from the George Lake or Eleven mile state park, and you are hungry, look no where. This 1850 small eatery cum bar has everything you are looking for. The breakfast, lunch drinks are awesome and they put their heart into the food. I love the same old school charm they have maintained over the years. We were greeted by Jimmy, Oh man he is a happy soul and amazing person. He knows what you want. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Can not praise them enough. Must visit

Stopped here at the recommendation of a bartender in Breckenridge. We were seeking Rocky Mountain oysters and were told this was the best place get them. The locals were incredibly welcoming and had terrific personalities. At one point they collectively coaxed the town drink to leave and locked the door behind him so he couldn’t get back in! The food, Rocky Mountain oysters and a buffalo bacon cheeseburger were delicious. Drinks were cold and conversation was engaging. I would go here every week if I lived in Colorado. Great place to stop and create a story!

Stopped for lunch after a rainstorm ended our local rock-hounding. Greeted as we entered into the bar and then went to the restaurant portion. Very varied menu. Hartsel is in the middle of nowhere CO so keep in mind this is a local, very rural, restaurant. I enjoyed a ham and cheese sandwich with hand cut fries. My wife and 2 friends all got burgers. All of it was great. Definitely recommend the food and service and atmosphere were good for a rural restaurant.

This was heaven, homemade breakfast, no fast food cookie cutter style. Small restaurant with so much personality and history. It is strongly recommended for you to stop by on your way to wherever. Our waitress has a wonderful attitude and full of life.

This small roadside diner sits high in the Rockies in the rural village of Hartsel on US Hwy 24. It has good food, great pies when they aren’t sold out, and excellent service. The saloon, as it bills itself, is always bustling with locals and travelers alike.

Personally, I’ve never had a bad experience here and I try to make it in at least once a week and have done so for more than five years.

This place is awesome. Everything is made fresh to order, not pre made frozen junk like most places. Service is absolutely stellar as well. We have been here several times for breakfast, lunch, & dinner, it is always a very good experience.
