Stopped at HotShots on our way to the hotel for a quick bite. Place has a lot of parking. Pretty spacious inside. The waitress was nice and friendly. Our food came out pretty quick. Decent prices just didn’t like the drinks. Very watered down.

Sport bar e restaurante, o ambiente é descontraído e movimentado, contando com mesas de bilhar, muitos televisores transmitindo jogos e máquinas de vídeo game. O cardápio conta com lanches, entre pizza e hambúrguer e também saladas. A uma variedade de cervejas conhecidas, nada de muito especial. A comida é boa e o atendimento excelente.

I don’t usually write reviews, but what happened tonight at Hotshots Sports Bar & Grill in Edwardsville, IL, left me utterly disheartened. I walked in, excited to enjoy a night out, only to be met with something I never expected: blatant racism.

I paid good money to play a few songs on the TouchTunes jukebox, eager to share some of my favorite Latin tracks. Music is a universal language, a celebration of culture and identity. But instead of that joy, I was met with something ugly: every single one of my songs was skipped. At first, I was brushed off with vague excuses about “customers being customers.” But when I pressed for the truth, a staff member finally admitted it: they were deliberately skipping all the Latin songs.

Let that sink in. Not a glitch. Not a mistake. A choice. A conscious decision to silence Latin music — and by extension, the people who love it.

It’s 2025. We should be beyond this. And yet here we are — still walking into local bars where inclusion is optional, and diversity is treated like a nuisance. It’s heartbreaking to realize that in some places, the moment your culture doesn’t “fit,” you’re unwelcome.

If you believe in fairness, in respect, in basic human decency — take your time, your money, and your music somewhere else. We all deserve better.

Maria was a wonderful bartender!! Had a great experience and delicious food! Will definitely be coming back.

My group and I went to enjoy my graduation, to where we were met with straight racism- all of our TouchTunes Latin songs were skipped. Staff tried to excuse it with “customers walking out” due to these songs, but later admitted to skipping the songs themselves. If you’re wanting to listen to a few of your favorite songs- keep in mind, they might skip them, if the staff doesn’t like them. 🙃
My group of 14 spent good money on drinks and we will not be returning back due to racism.
