So glad they fought to keep this Amtrak station here.

But a little frustrating to arrive from Pueblo on Bustang and find it all locked up with outdated opening times on the door. They open at 6pm! Gave us a good scare. So we explored the quiet town a bit on foot (check out the Western Apparel Store, candy store and cafes!) and waited for the station to open…but what to do with all our luggage in the meantime? And in the station: no Wi-Fi.

We’re heading by train direct from La Junta to Kansas City and sleeping in a luxurious sleeper car. Next time we’d like to head from here to LA.

Kudos to all Amtrak travelers for keeping train travel in the West alive! Train is the best way to travel, not to mention environmentally friendly, safe, relaxing and enjoyable.

Make sure to also try the impressive route from Denver to San Francisco. Amazing views and unforgettable memories.

My compliment goes t0 R.Ruiz on the Amtrak Oct 2,2018 leaving Riverside California at 7ish pm....From the moment he check us in and handed us our ticket to hang over the 4 seats, HE WAS PROFESSIONAL, FRIENDLY, CARING, CONSIDERATE, STERN WHEN NEEDED, AND HE REPRESENTED AMTRAK WITH 5 SHOOTING STARS. I travel almost every year on Amtrak, and it makes my 2 day trip in coach with 2 children sooooo much more than what I expected in a GREAT WAY. He helped with all of our luggage, he walked EACH CAR BACK AND FORTH AT LEAST 3 TIMES... THEN ANNOUNCING OVER THE SPEAKERS THAT HE WAS GIVEN A COIN PURSE THAT WAS LAST LEFT AT A VENDOR'S TABLE. After doing ALL OF THAT HE FINALLY FOUND THE WOMAN IT BELONGED 2.When people tried to sneak on the train HE WAS ON IT HE OWNED AT LEAST 2 THAT WE WITNESSED AT OUR SMOKE STOPS. He deserves a BONUS, VACATION, AWARD, FLASH MOB, I REALLY REALLY FELT SAFE, I JUST HAD TO SHOUT OUT TO THE WORLD THAT HE WAS AWESOME. We met some GREAT PEOPLE ON THAT TRAIN, ...THEY ALL CAME TOGETHER WHEN MY NIECE HAD CRAMPS, BY THE WAY AMTRAK YOU NEED FEMININE PRODUCTS FOR SALE IN THE BATHROOMS( SEND ME SOME FREE TICKETS AROUND THE WORLD OR AS FAR AS YOU GO FOR MY FAMILY FOR THIS IDEA LOL)... AMTRAK YOU GUYS ARE SOOOO BLESSED TO HAVE RUIZ ALL ABOARD .

Stopped in La Junta while on the Southwest Chief. I was able to strech my legs and get some fresh air. Too bad the soda machine at the station was out of order. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

Love traveling by Amtrak, but have been on telephone hold today for more than six hours trying to change some existing reservations . . . customer service sux.

This is a good place to take a morning stroll. I have been there when the locals have tables set up with things to sell.
