If you're looking for a place that has good chowder then this is it. Probably the best New England clam chowder I've ever had. My wife also enjoyed a nice bowl of tomato basil soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. Her soup was a little cool but my chowder was perfect. Probably because of the time of the year it was not very noisy on the inside, which is a nice feature. The place has a very tavern-like feel to it.

Well, the chowder is still excellent. I tried the stuff quahog clam and I don't think I would ever order it again. It was dry and lacked any kind of flavor at all. It didn't seem to have very much clam meat in it at all.

Full disclosure, we picked this place because of the name, but we’re charmed by the hometown atmosphere and enjoyed all of the fried seafood you could imagine would recommend getting the crabcake and the clam chowder. Those were our favorites that we ordered!

We are visiting from Virginia and wanted to find whole bellies, which we don't have back home. I was glad that I could find out online that this restaurant had them. We had a 20-minute wait, which was fine. The place is not very big and it was bustling! We both got the whole bellies, which were very satisfying, and they were of such generous portions that we had leftovers for lunch. The baked potato could have been more baked (for a more roasted flavor, not for doneness) but the broccoli was just right. This restaurant doesn't offer mocktails and was out of mint. I would suggest considering offering them, as there is a big sober curious movement out there! Also people like me who try to avoid alcohol for health reasons but still want something tasty to drink. Our server, Emma, was friendly and efficient. I loved the decor, with lots of Cape Cod memorabilia.

Wound up here with no pre-work looking at menus, reviews, etc. We had a reservation at a place that lost power. The good part was that a party of 6 was seated in about the 10 minutes we were quoted. The 6 of us were put at would normally would have been a 4 too but with a chair at each end. Tight but tolerable.

To say the waitress was not friendly is an understatement. No pleasantries, just business. We actually were reluctant to ask her for anything! Brusque.

The food is expensive and fairly ordinary. Broiled cod had essentially no spice (or flavor) and the requested light butter was no butter. Others liked their broiled scallops. The side of rice was plain white rice, as in Chinese takeout. No pilaf, seasoning, etc. plain. White. Rice.

We were asked if we were done and no dessert was even offered. We had to ask. “What dessert do you want?” we were asked. We requested a menu. She pointed to the specials board that had a few pies. We passed.

In summary, ORDINARY food, sub par service. Wish the first place had power. Oh, REALLY noisy!

Visited in January and it was busy. I can see why it is a local fav. I don't think I can explain how good the Clam Chowder is , just get it, not a cup but a full bowl ! Everything was great 👍

First time guest, got there around 3p on a Sunday in March. Wasn't sure what to expect, thought it would be quiet, but there was a buzz when we got there, party of 2. Short wait at the door (no indoor waiting space), but was seated relatively quickly. Pre-meal cocktails came pretty quickly as did the second one later in the meal. Substantial list of specials on 3 different chalkboards. Server knew menu, and was helpful in choosing entree as first-timer. Oysters were cold and fresh, served on ice with cocktail sauce with horseradish. Clam chowder was thicker than I tend to prefer, but was hot and tasty and I'd get it again. Fish and chips were a nice portion and tasted very fresh and didn't have an overly-thick batter. Fries just at par, but hot and crispy (shoestrings) and that counts. Loved the local vibe in there and all the signs and patches, etc. on the walls and ceiling. Already looking forward to my next visit in September!

We have eaten here before on several occasions but tonight was very disappointing. The chowdah was delicious as usual. The stuffed clam was very bready and no sign of clams whatsoever. My fried clam dish was very good. My husband ordered the chicken enchilada special... Decided to try something different. It was horrible! The wrap was so gummy it looked plastic. It was inedible. The waitress suggested the fish and chips instead. Said it was very popular. The dish came out in record time, compared to the wait for the first dishes. It was deep fried but it was very under cooked. Wasn't able to eat it and decided to ask for the check. The waitress was very apologetic. Maybe it was an off night as they had a private party taking place in the back room. We will stick to what we know if we ever go back. Chowdah and the spinach salad is always a safe choice.

This was a cute little place, bar was packed, dining area filled up quickly. Friendly waitstaff, got a fish sandwich and it was so fresh, batter was light. Nice local place, everyone seemed to know each other. I sat by myself in a corner, hard to read the menu. Would def go again when in the area.
