We stayed two nights in the separate cabin, which was very comfortable and had all the kitchen items we needed to prepare our own dinners. Breakfasts with Mary Ann and Lawrence, and the other guests, was a great opportunity to visit and learn about the area. Lawrence and Mary Ann are great sources of information and entertaining stories. The fishing in the Rio Costilla (about 5 miles upstream) was good. The main house is beautiful, with two nice rooms upstairs. MW is a great base for any trip to the Valle Vidal and surrounding area.

What a wonderful setting, comfortable accommodations and gracious hosts! We enjoyed a late fall weekend stay with Mary Ann and Lawrence in their spacious cabin set at the edge of the Rio Costilla and the Valle Vidal wilderness areas. The crisp fall air, vibrant changing colors of the trees, and the cozy cabin with its wood-burning stove provided a romantic get-away. The cabin is well appointed, and we were able to cook a fine meal in the cabin kitchen with all the utensils and cooking supplies we needed. We enjoyed sumptuous breakfasts with our hosts and explored the area which included ample opportunities to fish for the native Rio Grande Cutthroat trout. We were also able to fish on the private stretch of the Rio Costilla that runs through the MW Bar Ranch. Highly recommended for a relaxing respite in the country.

Mary Ann and Lawrence are the ideal B&B Innkeepers, friendly from the moment you meet them,||interested and interesting. Lawrence can tell some great stories. The breakfast and available||dinner is not only prepared by them but shared with them which makes the stay special.||The Inn is their home and every detail is wonderful. The location is gorgeous with a 2nd story||back porch over looking the meadow and cliffs above their private stretch of river.||My fishing buddy and I planned on grilling our own dinner one night and we had free run of||their kitchen.||Access to all that the Valle Vidal has to offer is right out the door.||Highly recommended.

When we arrived, MW Bar Ranch was bathed in the golden sunlight of a late New Mexico summer afternoon. This initial vision of the picturesque sprawling ranch aptly reflects our stay there in mid-August. It was our third visit in the past few years and each time I treasure more the peace and quiet, the many homey comforts, the thoughtfulness that has gone into every detail, and the calm and gracious welcome of hosts Lawrence and Mary Ann who obviously love what they do. The breakfast was wonderful and I had to be peeled away from the table to get an early morning start. Although we travel a great deal, this is still one of my favorite places.

After hiking most of the state, we got to explore the area around Amalia this fall thanks to the delightful (and hugely informative) Lawrence and Mary Ann. The cabin, ranch, breakfast, company, and overall environment were just perfect. When I expect to cook somewhere I usually bring things from my own kitchen, as they will not be present in the kitchen at the cabin. Not so, here. Well equipped kitchen in a cozy cabin warmed by the sun during the day and wood stove by night. Can't wait to return!

We spent a whole week in the cabin and thoroughly enjoyed it.||It was winter, there was a lot of snow, but the surroundings are so beautiful that it didn't matter.||Our hosts were so friendly, helpful, that we totally felt at home. The breakfast were delicious too!||It was a week of great rest and peace. An amazing vacation!||Thank you Mary Ann and Lawrence.
