Unfortunately it was an unpleasant visit, primarily due to the lack of customer service and empathy not provided by the front desk employee.
Although the agent made a 15% rate reduction, her inability to demonstrate a simple apology was missing.

Our issue:
The cabin assigned was not the cabin we requested upon making the reservation. A reservation confirmation was not emailed as promised by agent.
The cabin #5 was not cleaned, upon our arrival the queen bed was not made and there were used towels in the bathroom. Utensils and frying pans were filthy.

If the agent at the front desk was approachable I would have felt comfortable bringing these issue to her. Unfortunately her attitude ruined our visit.
In the end she told me it was unacceptable to not bring issues to her attention
However, if the cabin was clean and the correct cabin was assigned maybe this not would not be necessary.
There will not be another visit to Skyline

Great place to serve as your headquarters for exploring all around Platoro. Easy parking, diverse cabins, fantastic views, and a trailhead right across the road.

Called this place just to get an update on the colors, temperature and cabin rentals. I'll just say the owner needs to retire. He was like talking to a fencepost & I had to pry to get any helpful information. I've been going to this area for 30 years but I"ll think twice before ever spending another nickel in his lodge, store, or restaurant! I don't care if you are tired after a long summer season, the level of customer service one receives makes a lasting impression.

I stopped in for breakfast while biking through. Happy to get such quality food in such a remote place.

So we arrived at 10:45, you order at the front desk because of little or no staff. I get that ok, so one of our group asks if we can still get breakfast. The young lady at the desk just points at the clock on the wall.... then points at the part of the menu that says no breakfast after 10:30. Hmmm maybe she is deaf or doesnt speak english? NO, not the case she was to blurt out some one word answers. This was probably the worse interaction on our whole trip. The young lady who brought the food from the kitchen was quick friendly and efficient. The desk person was the opposite of all of this. Food was okay enough as we did need to eat. Knowing what I know now, I would bypass and wait to go into Chama if you can

Rustic location & beautiful. The lodge is everything you would expect from a high-country, Colorado locale. The years, elements & memories just seep from the log walls.
This is a fisherman's & hunter's paradise.
But the staff needs something to hold onto and get excited about. The three individuals seemed bored, lackluster & definitely not interested in being there. It's a shame.
The wife and I didn't rent a cabin as we were camping. But I think the prior reviews of the cabins speak for themselves.
Prices were higher than expected for what you received.

My family has been going to Skyline for decades. We love the lodge, the rustic cabins, the INCREDIBLE scenery, the rushing stream that goes right past the cabins, plus the deer, chipmunks, hummingbirds, vibrant wildflowers, etc! The food is great, even though they’re on a limited menu currently (not their fault). We get the best sleep here! The reservoir and lake are beautiful and the fishing is *usually* fantastic! There’s no wifi and we love that, too! If you can’t disconnect from technology, go elsewhere! Platoro is for peace and quiet and getting to know your awesome neighbors in the other cabins! Also, Skyline is super dog-friendly!!
