My husband and I dined here for our anniversary, and it was nothing short of phenomenal. The outdoor winter villas added a special touch, making it absolutely worth it for a romantic dinner.

From the moment we walked in, the customer service was excellent. The hostesses were incredibly kind, and our waitress ensured we were well taken care of.

The food was amazing. I have dietary restrictions as I’m gluten-free and dairy-free, but they happily accommodated me so I could fully enjoy my meal. 10 out of 10, We’re already looking forward to coming back!

Typically it’s difficult for a restaurant to pull everything off perfectly.. from the moment you enter the building to the time you leave.. but The Belvie Inn did just that! The restaurant is beautiful, the service was excellent, our dishes were always cleared promptly & the courses were perfectly spaced that we didn’t feel rushed at any point or that we were waiting. Also- most importantly the food was outstanding. We will definitely return many times! Perfect spot for your romantic nights out!

Celebrated my 46th birthday here last night with my wife for dinner. From start to finish, the food and service was amazing. There are two levels in this restaurant, the first floor which is where we were seated for our dinner, and upstairs. Both levels are extremely small, but very quaint and laid out comfortably. If you are wondering how small the restaurant was, I would compare it to Rao's in NYC if you have ever been there in terms of size, maybe a tad bigger.

There was no wait when we arrived, and we arrived promptly for our 5:30PM reservation. I ordered the half steamed mussels for my appetizer and was a good portion for a half a size. I think the full size probably could have been a meal on its own. The broth for the mussels was delicious and flavorful. One thing I would say if the restaurant reads this review, is to include some sort of bread with the mussels so a person (like me) can do some dipping in the broth. That was the only thing that was missing from this appetizer to give it a flawless serving. Even the presentation that it came in was different to see as you can see from the pics I provided.

For dinner, I had the Short Rib and my wife had the Chicken Piccata. Both were equally amazing. My short rib peeled away with the slight pull of the fork. What made my dish so good in my opinion was the grits. The grits, really elevated the flavor pallet of this dish and complimented the short rib so well. The portion was large but felt light at the same time. I honestly could have eaten another portion, that is how good it was. For dessert, we had the Tropical Cheesecake. The addition of the diced up pineapples and mango gelee with the touch of pineapple crumb, made this cheesecake to die for. It was not heavy like a traditional cheesecake you would come across. It was light, vibrant, and the perfect choice to the end of a great dinner.

Coming from N.Y., I believe I have a good personal opinion on good food, having eaten at some of the top restaurants in the country, and The Belvedere Inn was definitely a surprise in terms of atmosphere, service, and food quality. I would definitely would not hesitate to dine here again. Thanks for making my 46th a great night.

We went here for my birthday dinner. Ambience was lovely- an upscale vintage feel.
We ordered the oysters, beef tartare, and lobster bisque as appetizers. All were very delicious.
For our entree, I ordered the scallops and my boyfriend ordered the filet mignon. There was a lot of potential, but my scallops were extremely over salted, and so were the potatoes that were part of the steak dish. This unfortunately tainted my experience, and there was no accommodation when I mentioned to the waitress.
I will be back, but warily.

First time dining here. The place is as beautiful as i’ve always heard. Very classy. My girlfriend said the Chicken Piccata was the best meal she’s ever had. I had the Lamb and it was very good. Didn’t catch our servers name but she was very nice & attentive. We sat by the bar but it wasn’t loud at all. The chocolate hazelnut rocher was incredible.

My review of The Belvedere has been a long time coming. First off, I have to applaud the effort to keep such a stunning, historic building alive and thriving. Too many of Lancaster’s 1890s masonry mansions downtown are left to rot by rent-seekers, but this one stands tall—well-preserved and undeniably impressive.

Now, onto the experience. The service? Fantastic. This was our fourth or fifth visit, and not once have we had an awkward or subpar interaction. The staff are friendly, engaging, and genuinely enjoyable to be around.

And the food? The menu evolves with each visit, offering a fresh take on modern American cuisine—and it never disappoints. If someone’s had a bad meal here, they either caught a rare off-night or just have bad taste.

Bottom line: The Belvedere is a downtown gem, a Lancaster staple that deserves more recognition across South Central PA.

My wife and I were there this past Saturday to celebrate our 28th Anniversary. So happy we decided on this place. The place was beautiful, very comfortable, food was amazing and the staff was AWESOME! They even placed a plaque on the table with our names wishing us a Happy Anniversary. They had live jazz music that was just right, not too loud. We really enjoyed
our time there and will make that a normal stop when we are in Lancaster.
