We stayed at The Inn at Mattie’s Tavern for a two-night girls’ weekend and had a great experience overall. The rooms are spacious with incredibly comfortable beds, and the outdoor area is a highlight—the fire pit is perfect for making s’mores. The location is also ideal, with easy access to Los Olivos and its wineries.

The manager’s warm welcome, complete with a hot toddy and property tour, added a special touch. The property also has a fun selection of courtesy vehicles for use. The only downsides were the spa being fully booked and unable to accommodate us, and the coffee shop and restaurant do not open for breakfast until 7am (6/6:30 would be preferred!).

Overall, it’s a beautiful property with thoughtful details, and we’d happily stay again—just booking the spa in advance next time!

My wife and I have stayed at the property multiple times over the last year. We had our wedding there recently and I cannot say enough great things about our experience. It was hands down the best weekend. Everything went perfectly. A big thank you to Kara, Raven, and Alexa. The rooms, grounds, food, drinks, and other accommodations were spectacular. We wish it could have lasted longer. You can tell the staff enjoy being there and go above and beyond to make it special. 10/10

I have so many things to say about this property - firstly being that the grounds are gorgeous. It’s comparable to SoHo Farmhouse in England, which many try to emulate, and this team does it well. The biggest issue we found was the service at the restaurant, and even further - the food. It’s really nothing to write home about. We took a ghastly photo but decided to spare them. It was a rainy weekend on our visit, and we just didn’t feel catered to like VIP’s. A lot of “hold on I’ll be right with you”’s and a lot of pauses afterwards. It’s nice that it’s walkable to the small town of Los Olivos, and it’s pretty with great amenities and even a horse-drawn carriage which we saw, but were never offered (?). We mentioned that there was hair in our bathtub and they gave us a small credit… I left my coat in the closet and still haven’t heard from them. The Brits would never. 🙂

My girlfriends and I stayed here this past weekend for a mom’s getaway and we were sadly underwhelmed. The property is gorgeous, however for an Auberge property it wasn’t up to par with the Auberge service and food. First, they were out of many items on the menu- no sweet potato fries, no grapefruit for frozen Paloma's at the pool, no gluten free bread (one of us was gluten free and no bread options and no fries was kind of a big deal since so limited already) no non-pork options on the breakfast menu (I don’t eat pork). The food was nothing great. Also, our dinner service was so slow it took us almost 3hours to get through dinner. As for overall service - there was no turn down service in our room, we called 3 times for extra patio chairs (it finally arrived after 9pm the day we checked in) called for bell hop service with luggage and they never came. In addition to that there wasn’t much going on at the property for entertainment other than the pool. Outside bar by the barn wasn’t open in the afternoon and surprisingly there was no music or anything entertaining for nighttime on the grounds. (I’ve stayed at Ojai Valley Inn and they have someone play guitar at night by fire pits for ambience/entertainment) For being a small sleepy town there should be something outdoors especially in the summertime. Unfortunately, I would not return especially for the price of the room.

I had the privilege of staying at this amazing property this passed weekend. The location and property itself is so nice and relaxing, had the best weekend get away with the girlfriend and the dog, even my dog had the best time. Staff was very professional, amazing, kind, and helpful, you can tell they really love working there. The rooms were so nice and cozy also, had the best sleep I've had in years staying at this place. Everything was awseome from the management, staff, rooms, location, food and property. I can't wait to go back some day and definitely recommend it. The pool is amazing also just to relax and reset. Still can't get over the amazing weekend I had but can't wait to be back some day.

Although we had a subpar check-in and welcome experience, management was responsive and considerate about improving the remainder of our short stay. Billy, Andrew and Joern —we are so appreciative of your communication and every effort to make our stay memorable.

Superb. We took a cooking class and loved it. Everyone was warm, and welcoming. We will be back for other events. A neighborhood gem. Worth the visit. The employees are professional, and top notch. They enhanced our experience. Incredible people and place. Allow time for parking.

Patriot Love

My overall impression is that the front desk staff were either exhausted or stoned - horrible responsiveness. Any simple request seemed to take forever and /or be put on hold. I feel like my two days there were spent battling trying to get things done with them. Restaurant staff were super friendly - room was nice although views etc are not 5 star. I wouldn’t go back and I don’t think I’d recommend it. It wasn’t relaxing dealing with trying to get simple things taken care.
