Rustic country "dive" bar is really a quite pleasant place to throw a few back. Drinks are cheap and stepping in the place it feels like you could be in any year in the past 80. Only the jukebox dates it to at least 1990. There was one pool table in ok shape. Unfortunately, there were quite a few six legged critters crawling around too that I DID NOT want to hang out with. One beetle literally fell from the ceiling and just missed my drink. I imagine this is not an all the time problem, there had been quite a bit of rain preceding my visit. The bathrooms were also subpar to be polite. However, the bartender was fun and social, and there were only a handful of people in there on a Saturday night. I recommend if this is your type of place, but keep your expectations low.

Unrivaled rustic bar in Young. Drinks are poured well, there’s always a friendly face and Michael the bartender is the best. It’s like going back in time stepping inside. We miss you, Merle!

The Valley Bar is the preferred bar of us locals here in Young, AKA Pleasant Valley! This is probably the Arizona version of that well known bar named Cheers in Boston! Nobody’s a stranger here ever since Merle Saldeen and his wife Kathy came here in the mid to late 70’s. Hospitality and genuine caring for their customers has continued with Merle’s unfortunate passing recently, but his son Michael has carried on his parent’s legacy!! If you’re looking for some prestigious bar in North Scottsdale you’re definitely in the wrong place but if you’re looking for a place to relax and unwind with your friends this just might be your spot! Welcome to Young my friends you’ve arrived back in history circa the 1900’s! My family has been here since 1913 when my Great Grandfather and Grandmother Sparks arrived in a covered wagon from Texas, a journey that took almost 4 months back then!

great old watering hole worth stopping in, when checking out Young, Az. Beers were cold, bartender was friendly. They dont serve food tho unfortunately, the place down the road was highly recommended for great food
