What a cool venue! We went for drinks and a show so we didn’t experience the food, but I’m looking forward to doing so one day. The sound in the music room was great. Very unexpectedly enjoyable.

I have become a huge fan of the Velvet Elk in the past year. My friend group and I had some criticisms about this place after it first opened, most notably with the quality of the sound (often too loud in a not properly acoustically treated room). But they have really dialed it in the past few months. They are also attracting some great bands and we've really enjoyed some fun shows their lately like Rebirth Brass band last week. It looks like they added some more outdoor seating recently as well.

I also can't say enough good things about the staff there. The bar tenders and front of house folks keep things humming, often in a very crowded and hectic environment. Super friendly and always great to chat with.

Velvet is a welcomed addition to Boulder's music scene. Keep it up guys!

Had a good time listening to the live music show after dinner. Nice little intimate venue with great sound.

The service amazing, everyone was super friendly and helpful. The food was good. However, not amazing. I'd still order the chicken tenders tho.

Went to velvet elk to see Pixie and the Partygrass Boys. The show was a lot of fun and the Velvet Elk is a great place to see bands live. It is an intimate and entertaining space. The sound levels are perfect for inside so you can enjoy the music without walking out deaf after. The bar service has a great selection of beers and cocktails that are well priced especially compared to a lot of other venues. Plus they host a lot of free music as well!

Overall experience was really mixed. Staff was friendly, burger tasty, and acoustics inside the venue were awesome. The band was great! Our food order needed a follow up, but they have food deliverers and not wait staff, so if you have a need or issue related to food you have tell the bar staff and the restaurant next door addresses it...cumbersome and time consuming and not worth the time and effort. We had tickets to a show but no where does it say seating isn't guaranteed. About 1/3 of the people attending had to either sit on the floor or stand....for an hour and 45 min. Not a dance band, so sitting was expected. The seats that were there were tall chairs (I suppose to see over the people standing in front of you) or bench seats perpendicular to the stage and also tall, so everyone's feet were hanging without support, and you needed to sit sideways to watch the band. It was so uncomfortable, I can't imagine I'll be going back for a music event. The positives were very positive but not enough to overcome how physically uncomfortable it was. I read other reviews and didn't read about the seating, so I thought I'll drop this here for anyone who has foot, neck, or back issues or is generally hoping to relax and listen. They did tell us that we could sit in the booths outside the music portion of the venue and listen, but the bar noises were so loud, it wasn't really an option if you were there to enjoy the music.

Great little music venue! Wedged in a niche between "larger" Boulder venues like the Boulder/Fox theaters and tiny venues that can barely fit a trio, it is the perfect size for local bands to strut their stuff.

Sound mixing was good considering the acoustical challenges of such a space, and the vibe of the crowd and venue was nice. Band transitions seemed well coordinated, and the professionalism/polish of the acts for the evening was on point (Amaryllis and River Mann).

This is the venue we desperately needed to get local music back off the ground here in Boulder! I hope Velvet Elk keeps hiring local bands to play, and that they keep doing exactly what they are doing as it's obviously working well.

Frday night was my first time visiting, and I was highly impressed! The service, music, and ambiance were fabulous! I'm so happy to find a new establishment with live music in Boulder. Because there are far a few in between. I can't wait to go back!

This is our favorite late night/music venue in Boulder! We happened to wander in one night after the initial opening and have been coming ever since. Amazing atmosphere, wonderful staff, great live music, and of course wonderful drinks!
