We camped at Winding River for three days last week in a small Winnebago. and it was a beautiful campsite with aspens all around us in full bright yellow. The hosts (husband and wife) were extremely helpful when I asked them many questions about the area. The bathrooms were immaculate and everyone was so friendly. I would definitely camp there again.

We had a non-utility tent camp site for 3 nights and it was a great experience! Highly recommend especially for groups with children. The bathrooms were outstanding 🙂 The kids really enjoyed riding bikes around the campsite and exploring. The pancake breakfast was also well worth the money. Having the general store was helpful for additional ice, firewood and any of sundries you may have forgotten. Would recommend for sure and would visit again in the future!

Reception was great. Very nice staff and very welcoming. My dislikes were the pond and no trees. The pond needs cleaning out terribly bad. We couldn’t sit beside the water or enjoy it at all.

I was hoping to be in some trees, but that’s partly my fault…I should have asked. The grounds were very bare and open.

But, we would stay there again. It was very close to the RMNP entrance which was a huge plus.

Winding River Campground is by far the best place to stay near Grand Lake! My wife and I have stayed there numerous times and now our kids and grandkids are going there too! It is such a beautiful location and the staff is simply the best. Always friendly and helpful. Clean restrooms and showers and close proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park, make this a great choice for your next getaway.

We absolutely love this campground! It’s beautiful, clean, well maintained and the staff is very nice and accommodating. It’s very close to the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The town of Grand Lake is close with a few restaurants and a small grocery store. But is you need medical help you’ll have to go to Grandby.

We stayed in our RV for a month and enjoyed every day. Location and staff are great! We explored in rented ATVs on two occasions. We greatly enjoyed the free range burro and pony and the local herd of trail horses.

The Horseback Riding is phenomenal. Words cannot describe the staff at the Horseback Riding. We had the owner personally take us through a course that included two river crossing. We saw Bald Eagles and I felt like Kevin Costner was gonna pop out at any moment. The cabin we stayed in was beyond clean and even had and endless supply of smores to make in the fire place. The hot tub over looking the lake Mountain View was just incredible. Minutes away from Grand Lake provided some cool shopping, world class margaritas and killer pizza.. Need a quick weekend escape within a few hours of Fort Collins, this is the spot!!
