We are considering booking our wedding here so we went and had Sunday brunch and then a week or so later we went with some friends for dinner, both experiences were outstanding! The service was amazing, the food was delicious, and the property is beautiful! We can’t wait to start planning our wedding at this beautiful venue!

We went here for valentines dinner and there were some issues but the management was professional to assure to the best of his ability that we had a good experience. The steak was really good and cooked a. perfect medium temperature as we had requested. They have a great wine selection but I wish they had a better selection by the glass without ordering a whole bottle. It’s a quaint location by the foothills with a nice old fashioned ambiance.

We had high expectations for our Valentine’s Day dinner at The Greenbriar Inn, but unfortunately, the experience was nothing short of disappointing. Given the reputation of the restaurant, we were expecting a refined and enjoyable evening, but what we received was an overpriced, poorly executed meal with subpar service.

1. Misleading Reservations & Unexpected Prix Fixe Menu -
When we made our reservation, there was no mention of a strict course menu. We assumed we would be able to order from the standard menu, only to find upon arrival that we were locked into a prix fixe selection with no flexibility. This was a major disappointment and felt incredibly deceptive, especially considering the steep price.

2. Terrible Seating Arrangement - Our table placement was one of the worst I have ever experienced in a fine dining establishment. One of our chairs was directly in a doorway that the waitstaff used to deliver food and drinks to the atrium. We spent the entire evening shifting to let them through, worrying that a tray of food or drinks would be dropped on my husband. It was not just an annoyance but also a fire hazard.

3. Undrinkable Cocktails - The cocktails were uninspired and poorly executed. I ordered a sparkling wine cocktail with strawberry syrup, which arrived with a sugar sprinkle rim. Not only did it stain my lips every time I took a sip (making me feel like I had clown makeup on), but it also tasted artificial and unbalanced.

4. Wine Service Confusion & Waste - I ordered a single glass of wine, but it was brought to the table multiple times—then repeatedly offered even after I had finished eating. I sent it back every time because I was unsure if I would be charged again. It was clear that the staff had no organization, and a bottle of wine was likely wasted in their attempt to over-serve me.

5. Sloppy Service & Food Mix-Ups - Before we had even placed our order, we were served an appetizer course. Given the disorganization of the staff, we strongly suspect this was meant for another table. It was obvious that the servers had no idea where the food was supposed to go, leading to confusion and a lack of confidence in the service.

6. Overpriced, Strict Prix Fixe Menu with Insufficient Portions - The set menu was not only inflexible but also outrageously expensive for the portion sizes. Every course—appetizer, palate cleanser, main course, and dessert—was minuscule. My husband and I were still hungry after spending nearly $400 on dinner and had to stop for food on the way home. That is simply unacceptable at this price point.

7. Low-Quality, Poorly Cooked Food - The food itself was a major letdown. My filet was correctly temped but over-charred to the point of tasting burnt. I also ordered lobster risotto, which was made with jasmine rice instead of Arborio—completely missing the creamy texture a proper risotto should have. The lobster itself was slimy and seemed to be canned. My husband’s wild boar dish was laughably small, with only three tiny medallions. His sides were just as bad—undercooked carrots and fennel, along with an unappetizing mash that looked like breakfast potatoes. Overall, the food was bland, improperly cooked, and far from the fine dining experience we expected.

8. Lackluster Service & Lack of Attention to Detail - Our waiter was inattentive and provided minimal information about the menu. He didn’t ask if it was our first time dining there, didn’t go over specials, didn’t discuss wine pairings—just took our order and dropped off the food. At this price point, I expect attentive, knowledgeable service. To make matters worse, we were never offered bread, despite seeing other tables receive it, and had to repeatedly ask for the wine list.

9. The Insane Cost vs. What We Received - Dinner was $120 per person, and for that price, I expect excellence. Instead, we received mediocre food, subpar service, and tiny portions. Leaving a $400 dinner still hungry is unacceptable.

With the amount of elegant dinning in Boulder, especially in this price point, there are better options out there.

Between the Food Service and the Atmosphere I can tell you what I'd rave about first, I went here for an Anniversary celebration and it was perfect, We were waited on by lovely staff, Don was amazing! The atmosphere was sophisticated, intimate and elegant. And if you have a special occasion coming up this place is perfect!

Truly an outstanding culinary experience. My husband and I were celebrating our second wedding anniversary and everything from the food to the hospitality far surpassed our hopes and expectations. We will be talking about this experience for years to come. We can't wait to go back!

Great service and offerings for Easter buffet. Lovely set up, perfect for family gathering.
The staff is so friendly and made us feel at home. Seating was fast and efficient.
The one (and only) thing we had issue with was the Benedicts did not stay warm during the buffet, which we totally understand would be very hard to do- but they were cooked perfectly, just couldn't get passed the temperature thing.
